The Virtual Classroom
This offers live, interactive teaching in real time. As a student, you will access this “classroom” everyday and attend your classes at pre-determined times according to your student timetable and the school term calendar.
The classes typically range from 2 to 10 students and are given at least once per day. Due to the class sizes, the teacher is able to give extra attention to the students resulting in a high focused learning experience. Premium students are able to supplement their classes with audio lessons.

The virtual classroom consists of a teacher that connects to the classroom interface, and at the same time, all registered premium option students login and also connect to and join the classroom. The teacher then commences teaching. Some features include –
- The teacher can see all registered and attending students by name. Any absent students will be sent an email at the click of a button informing their parents of their non attendance.
- The students will require speakers or preferably a headset to hear the teacher speaking.
- Students can upload files (completed assignments) for access by their teacher. Likewise, the teacher can introduce documents, pictures and other downloads for the students to access during class.
- Students will take online exams. Multiple choice exams (we call them Assessments) will be graded immediately, whereas descriptive text input answers will be graded manually by the teachers. All exams, including the questions, student’s answers and the teacher’s comments (in descriptive text input only) will be stored for later revision and evaluation.
There are two types of Assessments; multiple choice and descriptive text input. Multiple choice means students will select one answer for each question and after completion, their overall results will be calculated in seconds. Text input means the teacher requires a text based answer for each question. This could mean a sentence, paragraph or more. These answers then have to be read and graded manually by the teacher and the results will only be available after that manual process has been completed.
During the year, you will be able to monitor and track your child’s progress via the Reporting Module. This ensures they never fall behind and any areas that may need extra attention can be attended to. Far better to correct an issue before it becomes a problem! With our system, you will know well ahead of time if there are any issues and will be able to take corrective action to sort them out during the year.
And that’s it! In our experience students have no difficulty in working with the online mediums of delivery and find it far more rewarding and interesting than traditional methods.
To summarize, each student will need –
A reliable windows-based pc, speakers/headset (headset is preferable), and access to a printer (printing is kept to the minimum)
A good quality broadband internet connection. If you can install a DSL line (the fastest speed), great. Otherwise a good wireless connection should do. The quality of your connection is determined by numerous factors, including your proximity to the nearest cell phone mast, your line of sight and any obstructions that may affect your signal such as buildings, and most importantly the congestion or volume of traffic being handled by that mast. The less the traffic, the better your connection, which is why you have probably noticed that the same wireless connection is better in some areas compared to others for “no apparent” reason. The quality of your connection needs to be good enough to enable you to receive streaming that includes voice and live video.
The required textbooks; we offer digital textbooks (see the relevant textbook section for more information)
